Shot almost a year ago in April, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the launch of this campaign Thinking Juice and I shot for Barbour. The shoot days consisted of perfect British weather, mixed scatter rain, broken clouds and the odd bit of unpredictable sun. No matter however, the team we had put together for this series of shoots was ace. Regardless of what the weather was doing, Andy Cahill of Pro Studio Hire alongside Dave Kane were ready to deploy monster HMI’s to deliver that sunlight. The Art Direction from Luke Bonner was to keep things looking real in order to ensure authenticity to the images and meaning of ‘Barbour Way of Life’. When we talked about the photographic direction, I wanted to the images to reflect this by using as much natural light or emulating natural light as much as possible Keeping a balance for product visibility.
Shot entirely on the (then) fairly new Fujifilm GFX 50S digital medium format camera, I’m really pleased to see how the work came out. Printed big, the images look amazing, with excellent colour and details.
Last March I was still working at the position of Head of Film and Content Production at Thinking Juice so I owe gratitude to the agency for letting me share the work I shot.
