I am really pleased to share this work shot recently for Sontronics, manufacturer of world class microphones and audio recording equipment.
Based locally in Poole, Sontronics have been proudly hand building their microphones in the UK since 2005. Over this time they have been creating waves (pun intended) in the audio recording industry with their stand out quality. So much so, their products have been (and continue to be) used by a broad range of artist, musicians, composers, high end studios and sound engineers including Abbey Road Studios, Ed Sheeran, Mark Rankin (Florence & The Machine, Plan B, Adele, Cee-Lo Green, Queens of the Stone Age). Stephen Street (Blur, The Smiths, Morrissey, Cranberries), Pete Prada (Drummer: My Chemical Romance, The Offspring, Devo) to name just a few!
Since returning to producing work independently for brands and business I have been striving to work more with local and UK businesses that have a strong focus on the quality of their products or services.
Sontronics perfectly fit that bill and is the reason I’m so pleased to have been able to create a range of photography for them. With their absolute and uncompromising focus on quality, game changing products and passion for their market.
The Challenge of Lockdown
The biggest challenge was making this shoot happen during the Covid-19 pandemic. Fortunately, the world didn’t suddenly stop when restrictions were put on the movements of people and businesses. Brands still need to market their products and high quality product photography didn’t cease being essential. In fact, a number of my clients reported a rise in online orders for their products and services due to an audience of people isolating and browsing products online. Sontronics were no exception and this increased the importance of a fast turn around without compromising on quality.
In order to fulfil this shoot, with the help of my Girlfriend, we converted a spare room in the house into a photography studio. Using the lighting and camera equipment I already had, we created a space that could shoot a variation of product photography.
With this studio space set up, we could shoot a range of microphones, accesories and other products - 31 in total. Photography direction and feedback from Marketing Director, Lisa Coley of Sontronics took place remotely using social media messaging where we could share images and communicate with ease.
I’m excited to see Sontronics new website and the content go live over the next few weeks, keep an eye on sontronics.com if you’d like to see it for yourself.
Since the shoot, the home studio has remained a permenant fixture, if you’re looking for remote product photography then click here for more information or get in touch.
